Halloween Math
Today in math we had a halloween mental math. It was still hard but a nice change. Mr Max also told us about a new species of spider that makes webs about as big as a human finger. After that he showed us his twitter page and showed us how many people replied on why twitter is a good thing. Thats what we basically did today. Happy Halloween

Today to start class we did mental math. It was the tenth one so we had to find our averages by throwing away the worst two. Then we handed them in for marks. After mental math Mr Max gave us some time to finish up the driveway question and start on one about a picnic table. After this Mr Max showed us how to do the driveway question on a spreadsheet.

http://www.mulch-mart.com/calculator.html simply a yard calculator you can get diffrent ones at google as well i just found this one.
Today, after O'Canada, Mr.Max read out the daily morning announcments and would like these links: www.parentinterviews.com/swanvalley to make appointments for parent teacher night/day on Thursday, November 5 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm, Friday, November 6 10:00 am – 1:00 pm and http://www.myfishbowl.ca/ for resource material for canadian high school students, Check It Out! so here they are. Next we did Mental Math #18. We then had a conversation trying to decide if we should start a Facebook Group for our math class to help all of us study and to remind each other about upcoming tests etc. It is like our blog, but we all use facebook way more so we would most likely benifit more from a facebok group then the blog. Mr.Max is still undecided. We then watched a video all about how media literacy is taking over the world asking how long it has been since we read a newspaper and how in 25 years the internet will be able to fit in blod cells. Crazy! Kellen then decided she was starting the facebook group for our math class. We then looked at the Driveway question which was homework from yesterday and Mr.Max showed us the steps how to solve the question.
This is how Mr.Max helped us in solving the driveway question. He then let us work on the question for the rest of class and if we finish he will assign another question for homework. This was Tuesday October 26th, 2009 class. Kellen started our facebok group page for this class so make sure you join to keep updated with the rest of the class! We also got a speech on MOGA Madness so make sure buy a grain ticket. Enjoy the rest of your day!!

October 19th, Daily Blog.
In todays short block class the assignment was simple. It is to complete a 8.5' by 11' formula sheet that we would use on a test. The rules are the same for this as any other test. It must be 8.5' by 11', you must create it, and it can be double sided. This particular formula sheet should consist of any material you think you may need from the Sequences and Series unit, and/or the Personal Finance unit.

Today Mr Maksymchuk revealed his crush on Mrs. Partridge. After that the class did a finance question for the Partridge family and we came to the conclusion that Mrs. Partridge needs to get a job.
Media Literacy is a 21st century approach to education. It provides a framework to access, analyze, evaluate and create messages in a variety of forms — from print to video to the Internet. Personal Finance Questions
Today we started off class with a homework check from Fridays assignment of doing questions 3&5. Only 23% of the class actually did some homework and Mr.Max wasn't too happy with that so we were given time to try and finish the questions. After we had some time to work on the problems we went over question 5.
We still have a chance to get the questions done for homework until tomorrow.

Working on Personal Finance
Today at the start of class we did mental math, #12. We then had a discussion/lecture about our math blog and how we can make each post better. Putting proper labels on the blogs is important along with spelling and capital letters. Also, interaction between the scribe and the audience is a key element to making the blog useful. Posting screen shots, recorded lessons and other such visual/audio media is important. When posting, DO NOT put in dates for titles and/or labels. We were then given 15 minutes to finish question 8. We then went over and corrected question 8. For the weekend we have to do questions 3 and 5 in the personal finance review booklet.
